Liltay in China
The life and times of Liltay in China: 2006 - 2007
I did give fair warning...

I've gotten a couple of "where the heck are you" emails and thought I'd remind everyone that I'm trying to write a novel in a month by informing everyone that I'm currently at 40,331 words!!! The challenge was to write 50,000 in a month and I've still got ten days as of tomorrow to finish up! The novel is drivel and I'm pretty sure I've reiterated the belief that I'm not a fiction writer three times over, but it has been fun and exciting! I've learned that there is something to be said for writing 2,000 words a day and that I do like writing even if I don't like writing fiction. Also, in between writing this silly little bit of fiction, I've been living a busy life in Wuhan. Last weekend, the school took us to a hot springs and this weekend I attended the wedding of Christina, the Chinese co-teacher who helped me get floor covering when I first moved back to Wuhan. Also, today, I met up with Robyn who was going to help me visit the hospital for a gastrointestinal problem, but the visit was cut short by the fact that the intestinal experts don't work at the hospital on weekends. So, instead, we went to the fabric district where I purchased expensive spandex leg warmers with fuzzy insides for wearing under skirts if and when it ever gets chilly in Wuhan. Robyn also showed me the shops where you can have anything made using any kind of fabric as well as a shop that sells traditional Chinese clothing - very cool stuff and very good prices.

After our excusion, Robyn and I had lunch at a Hunan restaurant, known for its spiciness, and she and I talked about ancient Chinese poets, Confucius, jokes that don't translate well into English, the difficulties of being a teacher of your native language, and how to prepare healthy Chinese vegetable meals.

Season went back to doing whatever it is she does in the office after only a week as my co-teacher, but Julia warned me last week that she'll be my co-teacher again in the coming weeks. Maybe for a week if not two. Now that I'm prepared, I think it will go fine. Eileen and I are contemplating getting out of the city this coming weekend and I'm looking forward to the end of November when I can start writing here again regularly.

Also, you'll note that you're no longer able to leave comments. I've tried working it out with Yahoo but they're not being cooperative. Oh well.
