Challenge
This has nothing to do with China…although, I wouldn’t have had the time, hence the opportunity to partake in this challenge if I hadn’t moved to China so I guess it’s sort of relevant. I’ve joined NaNoWriMo, which stands for National Novel Writing Month. You all should check out this bizarre challenge. I figure I’ll never run a marathon in my life so why not try to run a literary marathon of sorts. The challenge is to write a novel in a month – a novel of 50,000 or more words, that is. The prize is the satisfaction of knowing you sat down and wrote out something you’ve been holding onto in only a month. The idea behind the challenge is that writers or wanna-be writers spend so much time psyching themselves out that they rarely actually get anything written. I think it is supposed to be fun too. In that, if you like to write, it is a fun challenge to write 50,000 words in 30 days. And why am I telling you about this? Well, because my adventures in Wuhan have been waning somewhat and I figured I needed another outlet for all the words collecting in my head. Therefore, if you seem to feel I’ve disappeared, most likely I’m sitting here at the computer typing furiously about something imaginary. Highly productive, no? Anyway, don’t be alarmed if you see a post in the next few days along the lines of, “See you in December…”
